The Works Controller plays a vital role in the successful delivery of construction activities by combining strong technical knowledge, effective coordination, and a commitment to safety and quality. The WC ensures that all works are executed to the highest standards while supporting programme objectives and continuous improvement across the site
As Electrical Works Controller, you will:
* Manage, control and oversee electrical construction activities in line with CDM, procedures, client requirements and site licence conditions. * Support the Construction Manager in the safe and effective delivery of construction activities. * Develop, review and support approval of Safe Systems of Work (SSoW) and manage associated changes. * Lead effective task start-ups and pre-job briefings, ensuring teams understand the scope, risks and controls. * Promote a strong health and safety culture and ensure accidents, incidents and near misses are reported appropriately. * Liaise with key client stakeholders, including Health, Protection & Safety (HP&S). * Verify that personnel are Suitably Qualified and Experienced Persons (SQEP) and identify any competency, training or resource gaps. * Monitor construction progress against programme milestones and identify and mitigate delivery risks. * Work closely with Project Engineers and Task Order teams to resolve technical, resource, equipment and material issues. * Contribute to RFQ submissions, constructability reviews, HAZOPs, HAZCONs, progress meetings and task-specific briefings. * Support Post Job Reviews and ensure lessons learned are captured and applied to future projects. * Maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and internal teams. * Maintain accurate site documentation to support Lifetime Records (LTRs), quality assurance, traceability and final handover.
Qualifications/Experience Required
Essential Qualifications * IOSH Managing Safely or an equivalent recognised health and safety qualification. * NVQ Level 5 or equivalent. * CSCS Manager Health & Safety Test (Black Card). * Relevant electrical discipline qualification. * Relevant management and supervision training and experience.
Experience & Competence You will need: * A minimum of 5 years' experience working on the Sellafield site or within a comparable highly regulated environment. * Demonstrable technical knowledge within a relevant construction or engineering discipline. * Proven experience delivering, supervising and coordinating complex construction activities. * A strong understanding of nuclear safety culture, regulatory compliance and CDM requirements. * Previous industrial experience, ideally within nuclear, defence or another high-hazard environment.
