Role: Vocational Instructor (Scaffolding / Access)

Location: NCC South, Manor Road, Erith, Kent, DA8 2AD

Hours of Work: Full-time (35 hours per week)

Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, 7.25 hours per day, Fridays 6 hours 

Contract: Permanent

Grade: SC3

Target Salary: £47,973 per annum

Additional Benefits: Outer London weighting allowance £2,650 per annum

Responsibilities

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Deliver hands-on scaffolding and access training that reflects current site standards
  • Design and deliver practical sessions and theory lessons in line with CITB’s gold-standard training
  • Support learners to develop not only technical know-how, but also essential English, Maths, and digital skills
  • Coach, mentor, and inspire learners — many of whom are fresh to the industry
  • Create a safe, supportive, and energetic learning environment
  • Track learner progress and celebrate their success like it's a topped-out scaffold

Qualifications

Essential: 

  • A minimum NVQ Level 2 in Scaffolding (or equivalent)
  • At least 10 years’ scaffolding experience, including holding a valid CISRS Part 2 card or CISRS Advanced Scaffolder card  
  • A Level 3 teaching qualification (or willingness to earn it with our full support)
  • Assessor Awards (or commitment to achieve within one year)
  • Excellent knowledge of current industry practices
  • Passion, patience, and a genuine desire to teach
  • Knowledge of health & safety, risk assessments, and scaffolding standards
  • Hold a Level 2 qualification or higher in English and maths or demonstrate proficiency at Level 2 or above through a recognised assessment in both subjects

 

Desirable

  • Higher level construction related qualification
  • Level 5 teaching qualification
  • Experience of apprenticeship delivery
