Job Description - Vocations Marketing Communications Lead

The national Vocations Marketing Communications Lead will lead bold and engaging communications that bring ministerial vocations to life across the Church of England. Through compelling campaigns, inspiring stories and creative content, you'll help people from every background explore their part in God's story and consider where they may be called to serve. 

Working nationally, you'll play a key role in equipping dioceses with the tools, resources and communications they need to support those exploring their vocation, while enabling parishes to nurture and encourage emerging ministerial vocations within local communities. From digital engagement and website development to events, newsletters and national initiatives, this is a strategic and creative role with the opportunity to strengthen vocational culture and help more individuals discover, discern and pursue God's call to ministry.

This is a three year fixed term position.

Responsibilities

Play a key part in the renewal of ministerial vocations across the Church by working in close partnership with colleagues to: 

  • Lead the ongoing development and delivery of a national marketing, communications and engagement strategy that strengthens a culture of vocation across the Church. 
  • Create and deliver compelling campaigns that inspire people from every background and heritage to explore their part in God's story and consider a vocation in ministry. 
  • Equip dioceses with high-quality communications, resources and tools to support people discerning their vocation. 
  • Enable parishes to recognise, nurture and encourage emerging ministerial vocations within local communities. 
  • Develop inspiring written, digital and video content that showcases the breadth, diversity and impact of ministry across the Church. 
  • Lead communications for key national initiatives, events and campaigns, ensuring strong engagement and visibility. 
  • Identify and promote opportunities to raise the profile of ministerial vocations through media, storytelling and public engagement. Strive for excellence | Show compassion | Collaborate | Respect others | Act with integrity 
  • Monitor and evaluate engagement and campaign performance, using insight and data to strengthen future communications and increase impact. 
  • Oversee and enhance digital channels, websites, newsletters and other platforms to maximise reach, participation and impact. 
  • Build strong relationships with colleagues including the national communications team, dioceses, communications networks and external partners to amplify vocational opportunities and stories.


Qualifications
  • Significant experience of developing and delivering successful communications, marketing and engagement strategies in a large and complex organisation.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build relationships, influence outcomes and balance competing priorities. 
  • A track record of creating impactful campaigns and communications that engage, inspire and mobilise audiences. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt messages for different audiences and contexts. 
  • Experience of using a wide range of channels and platforms, including websites, newsletters, social media, email marketing and digital communications. 
  • Strong planning and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes. 
  • Experience of monitoring performance, evaluating impact and using insight and data to shape future activity. 
  • A commitment to broadening participation and engaging people from the widest possible range of backgrounds and experiences. 
  • Creativity, initiative and a collaborative approach, with the confidence to generate new ideas and drive continuous improvement.
  • An enthusiasm for the mission of the Church of England and a passion for helping more people discover, discern and respond to God's call to ministry.
