This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with a strong background in Voice technologies who is looking to broaden their technical experience across networking, infrastructure and data communications. Voice will remain a key focus of the position, particularly across technologies including Cisco CUCM, Cisco UCCE, SIP and Microsoft Teams, but the role will also provide significant exposure to wider networking technologies including LAN/WAN, network monitoring, wireless and network security. Working within a small technical team means you will not be restricted to one narrow area of responsibility. You will have the opportunity to take ownership of technical issues, work alongside experienced colleagues and gain hands-on exposure across a diverse technology environment. This position would suit someone who enjoys troubleshooting, solving complex technical problems and wants to continue developing into a well-rounded Voice & Network professional. Key Responsibilities As a Voice & Network Engineer, you will support, maintain and troubleshoot the organisation's Voice and network infrastructure. Configuring, installing, maintaining and reconfiguring Voice and network hardware and software. Supporting and troubleshooting Cisco CUCM, Cisco UCCE, SIP and Microsoft Teams environments. Investigating, diagnosing and resolving Voice and network incidents within agreed SLA tolerances. Troubleshooting network connectivity, performance and infrastructure issues. Supporting the planning, installation, upgrade, operation and maintenance of LAN and WAN environments supporting both data and Voice services. Carrying out network surveys to establish connectivity and infrastructure requirements. Using network monitoring and management tools to identify issues and monitor network performance. Using tools such as SolarWinds to collect network load and performance statistics and produce routine reports. Installing and removing hardware and software in line with agreed procedures and standards. Maintaining accurate configuration and asset management records following hardware and software changes. Carrying out defined system backup and restoration activities where required. Working with internal teams, users, suppliers and third parties to investigate and resolve technical issues. Supporting escalated incidents and providing technical support where required. Identifying opportunities to improve the use, reliability and performance of existing Voice and network infrastructure. Assisting with more complex technical issues alongside experienced colleagues and external specialists. Participating in the organisation's 24-hour on-call and out-of-hours rota, typically one week in four. Essential Experience We are particularly interested in candidates with a strong Voice / Unified Communications background who also have wider networking experience or a genuine desire to develop further in this area.
