Job Description - Volunteer Manager

Volunteer Manager

Location : Marble Hill House, Richmond Road, Twickenham, London, TW1 2NL
Salary : £27,876 per annum/ 36 hours per week/ permanent
Job Type : Permanent
Ref : 15501

Working alongside the Manager, Supervisor, Food & Beverage Manager and Head Gardener to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for our visitors, you'll play a key role in managing the volunteers across the site to bring the history of Marble Hill to life. The role is diverse and challenging, with events adding to the variety of the day-to-day opening of the site and the volunteer support required.

Marble Hill was built in the 1720s for Henrietta Howard, mistress of King George II when he was Prince of Wales, as a retreat from court life. Both house and garden were designed with advice from the most fashionable gentlemen of early Georgian England. Saved from destruction and development by an Act of Parliament in 1902, Marble Hill is the last complete survivor of the elegant villas and gardens that once bordered this part of the Thames.

As well as a house with significant collections, the site is also a public park which is open 365 days a year, with sports facilities including sports pitches and changing rooms which are open from 7am to dusk. The site has recently seen a hugely successful multi-million-pound lottery funded project.

With volunteer teams for both the house and gardens, events, admin and research, Marble Hill has a large number of volunteers, and we are looking to increase for the new season when you'll be working alongside the other managers to deliver a consistent welcome and deliver as one team.

We would be delighted to hear from you, if you would like to talk to us about this role before you apply, please contact Zoe Jackman-Dolamore, Eltham Palace Cluster Manager.
