VP Construction Underwriter

This isn't your typical underwriting role. It's a chance to join a high-growth Construction team within a leading carrier that's gone from a standing start to a $40M book in under two years. Launched just 18 months ago, the platform has already brought in over 10 experienced underwriters, built a diverse and growing portfolio, and is well on track to hit $60M by year-end, with bold but achievable goals set for 2026.

With big ambitions and a high-performance mindset, the team is scaling up and they are now looking to bring on an established Construction Underwriters to support and drive the next phase of growth in Texas.

You'll focus on admitted, middle market business across key casualty lines (GL, Auto, Umbrella) with an emphasis on infrastructure, civil and contractor risks. Loss sensitive or guaranteed cost experience is a strong advantage.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Underwrite complex construction risks with sound judgement and profitability in mind
• Evaluate, rate, and classify business to optimize regional portfolio performance
• Build and manage strong broker and agency relationships to drive growth
• Influence the strategy for product evolution and process improvements
• Support departmental initiatives and mentor junior talent as hiring continues
