The Role
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Warehouse Deputy Team Leader to join a busy manufacturing and warehouse operation in Ashton-in-Makerfield.
Working alongside the Warehouse Team Leader, you will help ensure the safe, efficient and organised storage and movement of materials across the site. You will also take responsibility for supporting inventory control, warehouse compliance and the servicing and maintenance of service units.
This is a hands-on position suited to someone with warehouse experience, strong attention to detail and a good level of mechanical aptitude.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the Warehouse Team Leader with the safe and efficient operation of the warehouse.
* Ensure all warehouse, loading and unloading activities are carried out safely and in line with legislation.
* Assist with the storage, servicing and loading of service units.
* Ensure service units are stored correctly and safely.
* Carry out initial quality checks when service units are received.
* Complete safety and maintenance checks and report any issues.
* Carry out required repairs before service units are filled.
* Liaise with other departments to ensure service units are prepared to meet customer requirements.
* Maintain appropriate stock levels of service unit spares.
* Assist with stock and chemical movement records.
* Conduct regular stock checks and support month-end stocktaking.
* Ensure materials are correctly stored within warehouse racking and designated storage areas.
* Identify opportunities to improve warehouse layout, storage efficiency and available space.
* Highlight excessive vacant storage space and recommend improvements.
* Maintain accurate inventory levels, including internal stock movements.
* Support internal audits and stock control procedures.
* Ensure all health, safety and environmental procedures are followed.
* Assist with the development and implementation of improved safety procedures.
* Provide cover for the Warehouse Team Leader during periods of absence.
* Undertake other duties required to support the efficient operation of the warehouse and wider site.
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have:
* Previous experience within a warehouse, manufacturing or industrial environment.
* Experience working in a supervisory, senior operative or deputy team leader capacity.
* A good standard of literacy and numeracy.
* A valid Counterbalance Forklift Licence..
* Good mechanical aptitude and the ability to carry out basic maintenance checks and repairs.
* Good understanding of warehouse health and safety procedures.
* Strong organisational and stock-control skills..
* The ability to work effectively with other departments.
* A proactive approach to identifying improvements and resolving issues.
* The ability to work independently while supporting the wider warehouse team.
