Warehouse Team Leader

Location: Lutterworth, Leicestershire
Hours: 42.5 hours per week
Salary: £35,000
Reports to: Distribution Centre (DC) Manager

The Role

As Warehouse Team Leader, you will coordinate the day-to-day warehouse operation, ensuring stock is received, stored, picked and dispatched safely, accurately and efficiently.

Working closely with the DC Manager and Supply Chain Coordinator, you will allocate workloads, monitor workflow, support warehouse colleagues and help ensure productivity, safety and customer service targets are achieved.

This is a hands-on operational leadership role and does not include formal line management responsibilities such as recruitment, appraisals, absence management or disciplinary matters.

Key Responsibilities

* Coordinate daily warehouse activities and allocate workloads.

* Monitor workflow, productivity and order completion throughout the shift.

* Ensure accurate receipt, storage, picking, packing and dispatch of stock.

* Maintain inventory accuracy, stock rotation and high housekeeping standards.

* Investigate stock discrepancies and resolve day-to-day operational issues.

* Ensure warehouse equipment is operated safely and defects are reported.

* Promote safe working practices and compliance with Health & Safety procedures.

* Provide day-to-day guidance, coaching and training to warehouse colleagues.

* Support effective communication between the warehouse, drivers and other departments.

* Escalate safety, resource, quality or service issues to the DC Manager.

* Identify and support improvements to efficiency, productivity and customer service.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

* Previous warehouse or distribution experience.

* Experience coordinating day-to-day warehouse operations.

* Good knowledge of warehouse processes, stock control and Health & Safety.

* Valid FLT licence.

* Strong organisation, communication and problem-solving skills.

* Experience using WMS and handheld scanning equipment.

* Competent with Microsoft Office.

Desirable:

* Previous Team Leader or Senior Warehouse Operative experience.

* Experience handling large, heavy or fragile products.

* Experience operating overhead gantry cranes and/or multiple types of MHE.

* Knowledge of Lean, 5S or continuous improvement principles.

* Experience in a customer-focused distribution environment.

Working Environment

This is a hands-on role within a busy warehouse and distribution environment. It involves manual handling and the use of warehouse equipment where authorised. Appropriate PPE must be worn, and some flexibility may be required during peak periods
