Team Leader – Distribution Centre (Ecom)

Location: Burton on Trent
Working Pattern: 5 days over 7, Shift patterns can be Sunday - Thursday and Monday - Friday - flexibility is essential - rotating shifts (6:00–14:00 / 14:00–22:00)

Purpose of the Role

The Team Leader plays a key role in supporting the operational teams within the Distribution Centre. Reporting to the First Line Manager and Operations Team Manager, you will ensure colleagues are motivated, engaged, and focused on delivering excellent customer service, maintaining high safety standards, and achieving operational efficiency.

Key Accountabilities

* Lead the day-to-day management of Distribution Centre operations, including Goods In, Pick/Pack, and Goods Out/Despatch

* Deliver daily team briefings to communicate workload priorities, safety updates, and business information

* Provide effective, visible leadership to warehouse colleagues, promoting engagement and teamwork

* Drive a culture of continuous improvement, health and safety, and customer service excellence

* Ensure all stock movements are accurately processed using the NAVISION Warehouse Management System (WMS)

* Ensure all tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and to schedule by appropriately trained colleagues

* Support site safety management by reporting, investigating, and following up on accidents and incidents

* Take responsibility for running the department during assigned shifts

* Work flexibly across rotating shift patterns (typically 6am–2pm and 2pm–10pm)

* Monitor and report on shift performance against agreed KPIs, taking corrective action where required

* Support absence management processes, including conducting Return to Work meetings and investigations

* Handle low-level conduct and disciplinary issues in line with company procedures, with guidance from the People Manager

* Resolve day-to-day operational and people-related issues raised by colleagues

Essential Skills, Experience & Behaviours

* Proven ability to identify and resolve operational issues at a ‘shop floor’ level

* Strong commitment to promoting health & safety and continuous improvement

* Experience using NAVISION WMS or a similar warehouse management system

* Hands-on experience with handheld terminals, picking, put-away, and stock counting activities

* Previous experience leading warehouse teams, including rota planning, holiday management, and performance monitoring

* Energetic, motivational, and empathetic leadership style

* Flexible and adaptable to varied tasks and shift patterns

* Strong understanding of safe working practices within a warehouse or distribution environment
