Do you take pride in keeping communities clean, safe and welcoming? We are looking for a motivated and reliable Waste and Cleansing Driver/Crew Leader to join our team. In this vital frontline role, you will lead a crew in delivering high-quality waste collection and street cleansing services while ensuring safe operations and excellent customer service. 

About the Role

As a Waste and Cleansing Driver/Crew Leader, you will:

• Safely operate LGV and non-LGV waste and cleansing vehicles.
• Lead and supervise a crew to complete daily waste collection and cleansing routes.
• Collect household waste, recycling, bulky waste, litter and fly-tipped materials.
• Ensure all work is carried out safely and in accordance with health and safety procedures.
• Provide excellent customer service and respond professionally to enquiries from residents.
• Complete route records, report service issues, and use in-cab ICT systems.
• Carry out risk assessments and ensure your team wears the correct PPE and follows safe working practices.
• Support the Council’s recycling, environmental and cleanliness objectives. 

What We’re Looking For

• A Category C1+E LGV driving licence.
• A valid Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC).
• Knowledge of VOSA regulations and safe vehicle operation.
• Experience supervising or leading a team.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Good knowledge of health and safety procedures and risk assessment.
• The ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and undertake physically demanding work.
• A positive attitude and commitment to delivering high-quality public services.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
