Assystem is a prominent player in the nuclear decommissioning sector, working across the NDA and Defence estate and providing waste management services to strategic nuclear clients in the UK. Our services include life extension and feasibility assessment.

🎯 Your Missions:

Provide Assystem and our customers with authoritative waste management and characterization advice. Prepare and review waste and characterisation documentation in support of decommissioning projects, including:

• 📊 Characterisation Status Reports
• 🏭 Facility & Waste Characterisation Plans
• 📋 Facility & Project Waste Management Plans
• 📦 Waste Inventory Management
• 📜 Technical Reports and Presentations

🔧 Your Responsibilities:

• 📝 Provide key waste and characterisation input to bids
• 🕒 Articulate durations and costs for planned work
• 🌱 Champion waste-informed decommissioning and sustainable waste management
• 🔍 Lead Best Available Technique and Optioneering studies
• 🤝 Be a primary contact between Assystem and our customers, potentially being seconded to customers' organizations or working on-site
• 👩‍🏫 Provide training and coaching to staff and contractors
• 💼 Ensure value to the business through effective resource management and implementation of BAT
• 📊 Possess a good working knowledge of the Data Quality Objectives (DQO) method of characterisation
• 👥 Lead small teams when required
• 📌 Sample plans
• 🛠️ BAT (Best Available Techniques)
• 🗑️ WMPs (Waste Management Plans)
• 🚛 Working knowledge of transport of dangerous goods and waste consignments

• Engineering Degree: A degree in nuclear engineering or a related field is typically required. 
• Technical Knowledge: A strong understanding of nuclear science, radioactive materials, and waste management principles. 
• Problem-Solving Skills: The ability to analyze complex problems and develop innovative solutions. 
• Communication Skills: Effective communication is crucial for collaborating with other professionals and stakeholders. 
• Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with relevant regulations and standards for nuclear waste management. 

Due to the nature of work to be undertaken applicants will be required to meet certain residency criteria in order to attain a minimum level of UK security clearance if not already security cleared to a minimum SC level.
