Water Sampling Tester - No Experience Needed

Role Overview

As a Water Quality Officer at United Utilities, you will play a vital customer-facing role, ensuring the highest standards of water quality for our customers. You will visit customers’ properties to collect water samples, conduct on-site taste, smell, and visual assessments, and ensure accurate data is sent to our laboratories for analysis. This role requires excellent customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently across the region.

Key Responsibilities

Visit customers’ homes and business premises to collect water samples in line with company and regulatory standards.

Conduct taste, smell, and visual assessments of water at the point of collection.

Accurately record and report findings, ensuring all data is submitted promptly to the laboratory.

Provide clear explanations to customers about the sampling process and address any queries or concerns in a professional manner.

Maintain and calibrate sampling equipment, ensuring all tools are clean and fit for purpose.

Drive a company van to various locations; collect the van from the yard at the start of each shift and return it at the end.

Adhere to all health, safety, and hygiene protocols.

Complete all required documentation and digital records accurately and on time.

Person Specification

Essential:

Full UK driving licence (manual).

Excellent customer service and communication skills.

Ability to work independently and manage your own schedule.

High attention to detail and accuracy in recording data.

Comfortable entering customers’ homes and representing United Utilities professionally.

Able to travel to the yard to collect and return the company van daily.

Basic IT skills for data entry and reporting.

Desirable:

Previous experience in a customer-facing or field-based role.

Experience in water quality, environmental science, or a related field.

Knowledge of health and safety procedures.
