Welding Design Engineer

Job Title: Welder / Design Engineer
Location: Deeside, UK
Shifts: Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm
Salary: £30,000 - £40,000 (depending on experience and qualifications)

About the RoleWe are seeking a skilled Welder with a keen interest in design engineering, offering a fantastic opportunity to progress into a Jig and Fixture Design Engineer role. This position is ideal for someone with practical welding experience who is eager to develop their technical and design capabilities within a leading manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Involved in the process of fabricating and welding Jigs, Fixtures, and Stillages, ensuring precision and durability.
• Collaborate with Design Engineers and production teams to refine and optimize designs.
• Assist in producing 3D models and engineering drawings for manufacturing.
• Support problem-solving initiatives and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
• Travel between sites when needed to liaise with teams and ensure Right First Time solutions.

What We're Looking For

• Hands-on welding and fabrication experience, with a solid understanding of weld symbols and engineering drawings.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a keen eye for detail.
• A desire to learn CAD design (experience with SolidWorks is highly desirable but not essential).
• Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Enthusiastic and proactive attitude towards learning and professional growth.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

• Welding and fabrication background, ideally with some exposure to design principles.
• GCSEs including English and Maths (Grade B or above), or equivalent experience.
• Prior use of SolidWorks and engineering drawing creation is a plus.
