This is an excellent opportunity for a Welding Engineer to join a large-scale, technically advanced manufacturing operation where welding quality, process development and engineering excellence are critical to the finished product.
The business has invested significantly in its UK manufacturing capability and offers the chance to work with large-scale equipment, advanced semi-automated welding technology and complex engineering processes.
Job Description:
As Welding Engineer, you will take a leading role in welding activities across the manufacturing site, supporting the development and continuous improvement of the welding management system.
The Welding Engineer will act as the Responsible Welding Coordinator, providing technical expertise across welding, metallurgy, process development and manufacturing.
Key responsibilities will include:
* Developing welding processes, procedures and overall process capability.
* Supporting FAT, SAT and the commissioning of new manufacturing equipment.
* Providing welding and metallurgical expertise for new projects and prototype manufacture.
* Managing new welding procedures and processes alongside skilled welding personnel.
* Controlling the Welder Register and ensuring qualifications remain appropriately maintained.
* Producing technical engineering reports and proposals for bespoke welding techniques.
* Working with OEMs, suppliers and subcontractors on engineering and welding requirements.
* Maintaining and developing the Welding Management System in line with ISO 3834.
* Supporting and mentoring Junior Engineers in welding-related technical development.
This Welding Engineer position offers significant technical responsibility within a large manufacturing environment and would suit someone comfortable taking ownership of welding standards and processes.
Skills & Experience:
To be considered for the Welding Engineer opportunity, you should ideally have:
* Experience within engineering, manufacturing, Oil & Gas and/or Renewables.
* Strong experience developing and maintaining welding systems.
* Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
* Experience with large-scale manufacturing equipment and advanced semi-automated welding technology.
* Strong knowledge of Weld Procedure Specifications (WPS).
* Experience with FCAW, GTAW and Submerged Arc Welding (SAW).
* Understanding of FMEA, Control Plans and Engineering Change processes.
* Strong problem-solving and stakeholder communication skills.
* Ability to work autonomously while collaborating effectively across engineering and production teams.
