Welfare and Wellbeing Officer ?? Weston-super-Mare ?? Full-Time | Term Time Only ? 37 hours per week ?? £25,000 – £27,000 per annum (actual salary)
About the Role: An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated Welfare and Wellbeing Officer to provide vital mental health and welfare support, advice, and guidance to learners. You’ll play a key role in identifying and supporting students who may be at risk of leaving their programme, working closely with curriculum teams to implement effective intervention strategies and help learners stay on track.
Key Responsibilities:
Identify and support students at risk of early withdrawal through close collaboration with teaching teams.
Ensure a proactive and responsive referral system for welfare and mental health support.
Develop and monitor action plans to help students remain on programme and improve attendance.
Provide students with guidance on a wide range of welfare matters including mental health, housing, finance, health, and personal issues.
Offer staff guidance on mental health and welfare policies and procedures.
Contribute to the implementation of attendance and retention strategies.
Liaise with external support agencies and maintain strong referral networks.
Promote wellbeing services effectively across all learner pathways, including work-based learning.
Attend relevant training, meetings, and events to stay informed on best practice and external resources.
Who We’re Looking For: You’ll be passionate about student wellbeing and have experience working with young people or adults in an advisory, support, or safeguarding role. A background in education, youth work, social care, or mental health services would be advantageous.
