We are working with a Welsh-medium primary school in Barry that is looking for an enthusiastic and committed Welsh-speaking Teaching Assistant to join their team.

You'll work alongside experienced teachers and school staff, gaining valuable hands-on experience supporting children as they develop their confidence, independence, communication, and academic skills.

This role is ideal for anyone considering a future career in primary teaching, education, childcare, speech and language therapy, educational psychology, or other child-focused professions.

The Role

As a Welsh-speaking Teaching Assistant, you'll work closely with teachers to support pupils' learning, development, and wellbeing within a Welsh-medium classroom. Your responsibilities may include:

Supporting teaching and learning through the medium of Welsh
Working with pupils individually, in small groups, or as part of the whole class
Supporting pupils with reading, writing, numeracy, and language development
Encouraging pupils' confidence and independence within the classroom
Promoting engagement with the Welsh language and Welsh-medium education
Supporting pupils with their social, emotional, communication, and organisational skills
Providing additional support to pupils who may have additional learning or behavioural needs
Assisting teachers with classroom activities, resources, displays, and preparation
Encouraging positive behaviour and maintaining a supportive and inclusive learning environment
Supporting pupils during break times, lunch, school trips, and wider school activities where required
Building positive relationships with pupils, teachers, and wider school staff
Promoting children's wellbeing, safety, and inclusion at all times
What We're Looking For

Fluent Welsh speaker with strong communication skills
Passion for supporting children's learning and development
Caring, patient, and enthusiastic approach
Confident working with children in a primary school setting
Reliable, adaptable, and able to work effectively as part of a team
Positive attitude and willingness to learn
Ability to encourage children's confidence and independence
Previous classroom, childcare, or education experience is welcomed but not essential
