Job Description - Wills and Probate Solicitor/Legal Executive

To assist the Departmental Head by carrying out the allocated duties of a Solicitor/Legal Executive in a professional and efficient manner, meeting clients' needs whilst contributing to the overall cost-effective management and success of the department.
Qualifications and Experience
Qualified Solicitor/Legal Executive with at least 2-3 years PQE
Proven experience in drafting Wills, Powers of Attorney, managing estate administrations, court of protection applications and good knowledge of inheritance tax
Up to date technical knowledge of all Processes and SRA/compliance requirements
Experience of Business Development/Marketing
Experience of using a case management system, ideally Proclaim
Job Specific Duties
The ability to manage a caseload independently, with the minimum of supervision and be responsible for own caseload
Undertake business development and marketing when required for the department
Liaising with the Departmental Head and other staff to ensure adequate cover within the department at all time and to attend to clients of other fee earners in their absence, where this is appropriate
Prioritise your workload, maintaining accurate records of time spent on all activities, ensuring that bills are presented on time and that the agreed procedures within the business relating to matter management and file control are adhered to
Develop and maintain a fee income in line with targets and agreed objectives and in accordance with the current policies and procedures
Attending upon clients to take instructions and advising on the most appropriate course of action to meet clients needs, taking appropriate action in executing clients instructions in a timely manner
Maintain competence through relevant CPD activities whilst ensuring a personal development portfolio and relevant training records, which satisfy the current regulations and requirements as specified by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) are kept updated
Keep informed of all changes in the law and practice in your own area of work
Motivate and nurture other members of the team to help with their development
Prepare accurate correspondence and standard documents
Assisting in the of the department by ensuring that tasks and client allocated are dealt with promptly and in a cost-effective manner in accordance with the policies and regulations set by the firm and the Code of Conduct of the Solicitors Regulation Authority
Undertake general administrative duties with tasks being allocated by the Fee Earner, using a high degree of self-management and initiative
Deals with client both in person and on the telephone and provide such support in a professional and friendly manner
Ensures the confidentiality of all firm and clients documentation and information
To respond to emails and client calls in a reasonable timeframe
To comply with deadlines around team or individual projects that may be set by the Senior Management Team and/or advise if you are going to be unable to comply with any deadline set
An ability to self-report where mistakes/errors have occurred on any case, for any reason, to your Team Manager. This includes anything that may lead to a financial detriment to the client or the firm or anything that will inhibit a smooth settlement of the case down to error
The ability to work from any of the Companys offices as the Company may require from time to time whether on a temporary or permanent basis
Plus any other duties as reasonably requested by Management
