Summary
An opportunity has arisen for a Womenswear Designer to support both the design team and in-house production.
The role will involve analysing the womenswear market, submitting new and updated shape ideas. This is a fully integrated in-house production role to provide support in each process, from concept to delivery.
Suitable candidates will have relevant commercial experience working with a retailer or supplier and possess a strong portfolio.
Responsibilities:
Market awareness, ability to research for directional and comparative trend and product direction
Conduct print, shape and fabric analysis through competitive shops
Forecasting future trends using relevant internal and external information for coming seasons, highlighting gaps in current ranges
Interpretation of trends into commercial design
Developing new shape ideas based on briefs and updating bestsellers
Following product development through from brief to production
Review and challenge briefs, demonstrating a commercial awareness of fabric and garment construction costs
Produce complete digital technical packs ready for factory use
Maintaining fabric log library, searchingandidentifying newness
Accountable for managing deadlines andcritical path for 1st fit
Requirements:
Relevant design degree (preferably 2:1 or higher)
2-3 years’ experience working in a supplier or retail setting
Experience in comparative analysis and forecasting trends
Highly skilled in Adobe (Photoshop & Illustrator) and creating technical packs
Experience in dealing with factories and garment tech teams
Strong fabric knowledge across jersey and woven
Good CP understanding working two seasons ahead for US/Canada
