Workshop Assistant / Class 1 Driver

Location: Whitehaven
Salary: £17 - £20 per hour
Job Type: Temp to Perm

Hours: Monday to Friday days (8am-4:30pm, 3:30 finish on a friday)

* Valid Class 1 (C+E) HGV Licence – Essential

About the Role

We are currently recruiting for a reliable and hardworking Workshop Assistant / Class 1 Driver to join our busy team. This is a varied role combining workshop support duties with the transportation of vehicles and equipment when required.

The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring the smooth operation of the workshop while also carrying out vehicle movements and deliveries using Class 1 vehicles.

Key Responsibilities

* Assisting technicians and workshop staff with daily operations

* Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe workshop environment

* Preparing vehicles and equipment for maintenance, inspection, or delivery

* Loading, unloading, and moving materials and equipment safely

* Carrying out vehicle collections and deliveries as required

* Driving Class 1 (C+E) vehicles in accordance with road transport regulations

* Completing vehicle checks and reporting defects

* Supporting stock control and parts management

* Following all health and safety procedures at all times

Requirements

* Valid Class 1 (C+E) HGV Licence – Essential

* Able to use power and hand tools

* Ability to lift heavy objects

* Good understanding of vehicle safety and compliance requirements

* Strong work ethic and willingness to assist across multiple departments

* Ability to work independently and as part of a team

* Good communication and organisational skills

* Flexible approach to work and duties
