About the Role
We are looking for a Workshop Manager to join the fantastic team at our Nottingham branch. This role will be responsible for the management, performance and safety of the workshop function within the branch, including leading a team of fitters to ensure the efficient servicing, maintenance, repair and preparation of the pump fleet and equipment.
Main responsibilities:
* Oversee day-to-day operations of the workshop, ensuring pump servicing, maintenance, repairs, modifications, and improvements are complete efficiently and to the required standards, whilst maintaining compliance with legal requirements and company procedures.
* Manage daily engineering workloads to meet business needs and resolve operational challenges.
* Ensure fleet servicing schedules are adhered to, and that equipment is maintained in line with manufacturer requirements and company standards.
* Monitor equipment reliability and performance, identifying recurring issues and working with technical teams to implement improvements.
* Lead, coach, and motivate a high-performing team to maximise productivity, engagement, performance, and quality.
* Provide day-to-day direction and support to your team ensure work is completed safely, in line with operational priorities and ensuring workloads are managed effectively.
* Proactively manage team development, performance, absence and misconduct in line with company policies and processes, promptly addressing any areas of concern.
* Lead and champion a strong health and safety culture, ensuring it is embedded in all branch activities.
* Ensure full compliance with all company SHEQ policies, procedures, and statutory regulations.
Qualifications & Experience:
* NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
* Strong experience working with diesel engines to repair and diagnose faults and perform routine maintenance.
* Experience in leading and managing a workshop and yard function, maximising productivity, quality, and client service.
* Proven experience of successfully managing a team and raising standards within a team. Able to motivate, develop and engage a team, and collaborate within the team and across the Company.
* Strong leadership with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to listen and offer sound feedback.
* Experience of leading and promoting a strong Health & Safety culture, driving and creating an environment where good practices are a way of everyday life and total compliance is adhered to.
* Comfortable working in a fast-paced, sometimes high-pressured environment as you will be planning, prioritising, and managing work and resources, whilst ensuring smooth operations and strong outputs.
* Forward thinking whilst maintaining a methodical, attention to detail approach.
* Adaptable and flexible to support the business to get the job done understanding the requirements of all stakeholders while maintaining a safe environment for all.
* Ability and willingness to participate in call-out duties and remain flexible to support business continuity outside of hours when required from time-to-time due to the 24/7 nature of our business.
* Full UK driving licence with willingness to travel from time-to-time to meet business needs, which may include overnight stays.
