An established and reputable automotive business in Suffolk is seeking an experienced and motivated Workshop Supervisor to lead a busy and well-equipped workshop. The company has built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality vehicle servicing, maintenance, and repairs, and is now looking for a skilled individual to help drive continued success.
The Role
This is a hands-on leadership position combining technical expertise with day-to-day workshop supervision. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the workshop while maintaining high standards of workmanship, safety, and customer service.
You will lead from the front, supporting technicians, managing workloads, and contributing your own mechanical expertise to deliver excellent results.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the daily operations of the workshop to ensure efficiency and productivity Plan, allocate, and monitor workloads across the team Carry out and supervise servicing, maintenance, and repair work Ensure all work meets manufacturer and company quality standards Conduct MOT testing (where qualified) Provide guidance, mentoring, and development support to workshop staff Maintain high standards of health & safety and workshop housekeeping Liaise with customers and the service office regarding progress and technical matters Assist with diagnosing complex vehicle faults Ensure compliance with DVSA regulations and internal procedures Support the management of workshop tools, equipment, and stock
Essential Requirements
Level 3 NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Current MOT Tester qualification with practical experience Strong diagnostic and mechanical repair skills Previous experience in a supervisory or team leader role within a workshop Excellent organisational and communication skills Full UK Driving Licence
Desirable Skills
PSV (Passenger Service Vehicle) maintenance or repair experience Experience working with mixed fleets (commercial and passenger vehicles) Familiarity with workshop management systems
