Job Description - Workshop Technician

PE Global is currently recruiting for a Workshop Technician on behalf of a leading global manufacturing and technology organisation.

Location: Nuneaton, Warwickshire
Rate: £15.06 per hour PAYE (37.5 hours per week)
Contract duration: 12 months

About the Role
The Workshop Technician will support the organisation's Automotive Aftermarket Training Centre in Nuneaton, providing hands-on technical, workshop and facilities support across a variety of activities.
The role will involve preparing vehicles and testing panels, supporting new product testing, managing workshop stock and chemicals, maintaining safe systems of work, and assisting with the delivery of technical training to customers, partners and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage workshop stock control, including placing orders, organising product storage and coordinating deliveries.
• Prepare vehicles and testing panels for use by Application Engineers.
• Complete and assist with new product testing activities, including:
• Paint preparation
• Vehicle masking
• Paint application
• Clearcoat defect removal
• Assist with delivering training on vehicle repair solutions to channel partners, end-user customers/bodyshops and internal sales teams.
• Monitor and control chemicals on site, including completing COSHH assessments.
• Validate and update safe systems of work for various types of equipment, including sanders and grinders.
• Welcome visitors to the training centre and provide a professional first point of contact.
• Work collaboratively with different teams, customer groups and internal stakeholders.
• Maintain a safe, organised and efficient workshop and training environment.

Requirements:

• Previous vehicle repair experience or experience
• Hands-on experience with vehicle preparation, repair, paint application or related activities.
• Previous training experience or confidence supporting/delivering practical training.
• Basic to intermediate IT skills.
• Good organisational skills, particularly around stock, equipment and materials.
• An awareness of workplace health and safety requirements.
• Experience or understanding of COSHH would be advantageous.
• The ability to work confidently with different groups and types of people.
• A positive can-do attitude and willingness to get involved across a variety of duties.
