Yard Operator

Location: Sunderland
Hours: Monday–Friday, 7:30am–4:00pm
Contract: Full Time, Permanent

Our client are looking for an experienced Yard Operator to join a busy industrial operation in Sunderland. This is a hands-on role involving vehicle movements, forklift operations, loading and unloading activities, stock control, and maintaining high standards of safety and housekeeping.

Key Responsibilities

* Operate forklift trucks and site equipment safely.

* Load and unload tankers, drums, and IBCs.

* Manage vehicle movements and act as a banksman when required.

* Carry out daily equipment checks and report defects.

* Monitor stock levels and maintain accurate records.

* Ensure all loading and transfer activities are completed safely and in line with procedures.

* Maintain excellent housekeeping standards.

* Support site safety, environmental compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives.

What We're Looking For

* Valid FLT licence and practical forklift experience.

* Experience in a chemical, manufacturing, waste, recycling, or industrial environment.

* Strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards.

* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

* Good communication and problem-solving skills.

* Experience with hazardous materials, permit-to-work systems, or bulk liquid handling would be advantageous
