The school & role

This Independent School provides an intimate learning environment where the Year 1 Teacher will teach small classes and deliver a bespoke curriculum focused on early literacy, number sense and confidence. The Year 1 Teacher will be part of a reflective team: the Year 1 Teacher will plan together, moderate progress together and attend weekly professional learning sessions beginning in January 2026. The Year 1 Teacher will benefit from generous planning time and mentoring from senior colleagues from January 2026.

Year 1 Teacher — core responsibilities

• Plan and deliver high-quality, differentiated lessons as the Year 1 Teacher.

• Lead phonics and early reading interventions as the Year 1 Teacher.

• Use formative assessment to drive progress as the Year 1 Teacher.

• Communicate effectively with parents as the Year 1 Teacher and support transition into Year 2.

Person spec — Year 1 Teacher

• QTS or equivalent and recent Year 1 Teacher experience.
