Year 1 Teacher - Merton

We are seeking a dynamic Year 1 Teacher to join a thriving Merton primary from January 2026. This Full-Time Year 1 Teacher role offers the chance to lead a Year 1 class and shape the foundations of reading, writing and mathematical fluency. The Year 1 Teacher will be expected to plan before January 2026, attend induction in January 2026, and teach from January 2026.

Year 1 Teacher Responsibilities

• Deliver daily systematic phonics and guided reading as the Year 1 Teacher.

• Plan sequenced writing units and practical mathematics as the Year 1 Teacher.

• Run targeted interventions and track progress as the Year 1 Teacher.

• Communicate with parents and work closely with support staff as the Year 1 Teacher. The Year 1 Teacher will prepare in advance of January 2026 and take up the post from January 2026.

Year 1 Teacher Requirements

We seek a Year 1 Teacher with QTS (or equivalent), secure KS1 experience and excellent classroom routines. The Year 1 Teacher should be reflective, organised and committed to working with families. Availability for planning sessions before January 2026, attendance at induction in January 2026, and a start from January 2026 is essential.
