Year 1 Teacher - Slough

Are you a nurturing and creative Year 1 Teacher ready for a rewarding KS1 opportunity from January 2026? A well-resourced primary school in Slough is recruiting a passionate Year 1 Teacher to lead early reading, phonics and number work from January 2026.

This Year 1 Teacher role in Slough will involve establishing strong classroom routines, delivering systematic phonics and creating play-rich learning opportunities that develop early writing and number sense. The Year 1 Teacher will receive a full induction and handover before January 2026, ensuring a confident start in the spring term. As Year 1 Teacher you will assess learning continuously, plan timely interventions and build excellent partnerships with parents across Slough.

Role responsibilities

• Deliver daily phonics, guided reading and progressive Year 1 lessons that build foundational skills.

• Observe and assess children regularly, using evidence to plan small-group and individual next steps.

• Prepare engaging indoor and outdoor learning environments to support early development in Slough.

• Work closely with teaching assistants to provide targeted support and promote independence.

• Maintain accurate learning journals and communicate progress to families.

Person specification

• Qualified teacher with EYFS/KS1 experience and strong phonics practice.

• Creative, patient and skilled at developing early routines and formative assessment.

• Able to begin January 2026 with participation in induction and pre-start planning before January 2026.
