Year 1 Teacher – Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging lessons that inspire and challenge Year 1 pupils.


• Create a nurturing and stimulating classroom environment that encourages a love for learning.


• Assess, monitor, and support student progress, providing feedback and setting achievable targets.


• Encourage children to develop independence and critical thinking skills.


• Work closely with colleagues to ensure high-quality curriculum delivery and share effective teaching practices.


• Communicate regularly with parents and carers, updating them on their child's development and addressing any concerns.


• Take part in staff meetings, training, and wider school activities, contributing to the school community.

Year 1 Teacher – Person Specification

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.


• A degree in Education or a relevant subject.


• Experience teaching in Key Stage 1, particularly Year 1, is desirable.


• Strong knowledge of the National Curriculum and effective assessment methods.


• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.


• Ability to differentiate learning and meet the needs of diverse learners.


• A collaborative team player committed to creating an inclusive classroom.


• Dedication to ongoing professional development and reflective teaching.
