The Role – Year 1 Teaching Assistant

As a Year 1 Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside the class teacher to support children aged 5–6 with their daily learning. This will include assisting with phonics, early writing and number work, supporting small groups, preparing learning materials, and helping to manage classroom routines. You will also be responsible for encouraging positive behaviour, supporting pupils’ social development, and helping to create a calm, engaging environment where every child can thrive. The ideal candidate will be patient, enthusiastic, and confident supporting young learners at an early stage of their educational journey.
