We are recruiting a Year 2 Teacher for a popular school in Newham. The Year 2 Teacher will plan and deliver a sequenced KS1 curriculum that secures reading, writing and mathematical outcomes, lead phonics and guided-reading sessions, and design targeted interventions for pupils who need additional support. This Year 2 Teacher position commences January 2026, with induction and handover planned before January 2026 so the Year 2 Teacher can begin the spring term ready to make an immediate impact in Newham.

About the role

The Year 2 Teacher will create differentiated daily lessons, deliver evidence-informed small-group tuition and maintain accurate assessment records. The Year 2 Teacher will support transition into Key Stage 2, liaise with parents and contribute to moderation and year-group planning across the Newham school.

Key responsibilities

• Plan sequenced Year 2 lessons with clear progression and purposeful differentiation.


• Deliver phonics, guided-reading and maths sessions that secure fundamental skills.


• Run targeted interventions, measure impact and adapt approaches to accelerate progress.


• Work collaboratively with TAs and leaders to ensure consistent Year 2 provision across Newham.


• Communicate progress to families and contribute to reporting cycles.

Person specification

• Qualified teacher with strong KS1 experience and proven Year 2 outcomes.


• Excellent phonics knowledge, assessment literacy and calm classroom routines.


• Organised, collaborative and available to start January 2026 in Newham.
