We are recruiting a Year 2 Teacher for a well-resourced primary school in Wandsworth. The Year 2 Teacher will plan and deliver a sequenced KS1 curriculum that secures reading, writing and mathematical outcomes, lead phonics and guided-reading lessons, and design targeted interventions for pupils who need additional support. This Year 2 Teacher position commences January 2026, with induction and handover planned before January 2026 so the Year 2 Teacher can begin the spring term ready to make an immediate impact in Wandsworth.

About the role

The Year 2 Teacher will create differentiated daily lessons, deliver evidence-informed small-group tuition and maintain accurate assessment records. The Year 2 Teacher will lead phonics and guided reading, run targeted interventions and support transition into Key Stage 2. The Wandsworth setting offers collaborative planning time, structured CPD and supportive leadership to help the Year 2 Teacher thrive.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver high-quality Year 2 lessons with clear progression and purposeful differentiation.


• Deliver phonics, guided-reading and maths sessions and run targeted interventions.


• Track progress systematically, evaluate the impact of interventions and adapt approaches accordingly.


• Work with colleagues to moderate standards and ensure continuity across Wandsworth year groups.


• Maintain strong communication with families and contribute to reporting cycles.

Person specification

• Qualified teacher with proven KS1 experience and strong Year 2 outcomes.


• Secure phonics and reading pedagogy, assessment literacy and effective classroom routines.


• Organised, collaborative and ready to start January 2026 in Wandsworth.
