The Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated Year 5 ECT to join a well-resourced and welcoming primary school. You will be responsible for delivering engaging and inclusive lessons that stretch and support pupils at all levels. With strong year group planning structures in place, you'll be well supported as you deliver the KS2 curriculum and prepare pupils for the transition to upper Key Stage 2.

The Candidate
The school is looking for a dedicated and reflective ECT who is ready to hit the ground running in a supportive team. You should have:
  • A degree and QTS (or be on track to achieve QTS by September 2025)
  • A strong understanding of the KS2 curriculum
  • The ability to engage pupils with creative and effective teaching
  • A commitment to continual learning and collaboration with colleagues

The School
Situated in Edgbaston, this 2-form entry primary school is rated ‘Good’ and is known for its inclusive ethos and excellent pupil progress. The leadership team is experienced in supporting early career teachers and has a strong track record of guiding ECTs through their induction successfully. Staff wellbeing is a key focus, and teachers are encouraged to innovate and share best practice.

ECT Induction
As an Early Career Teacher, you will benefit from a structured two-year induction programme designed to support your professional growth and ensure a smooth transition into teaching. This programme follows the Early Career Framework (ECF) and provides comprehensive training, mentoring, and development opportunities tailored to your needs.

  • ECF-based training modules: Covering core areas such as pedagogy, behaviour management, curriculum design, assessment, and professional conduct.
  • Assigned mentor: A dedicated and experienced teacher providing regular feedback, guidance, and one-on-one support.
  • Observation and feedback sessions: Structured classroom observations with detailed feedback from your mentor and school leadership.
  • Personalised development plan: Tailored support based on your strengths and areas for improvement.
  • Professional development opportunities: Access to workshops, seminars, and training sessions to enhance your teaching skills.

This induction programme is continuously monitored and adapted to ensure it meets your individual needs and the school’s expectations. As an ECT, you are encouraged to engage actively in your professional development, take initiative in seeking support, and make the most of the opportunities available to you.

Due to the number of applications, only successful applicants will be contacted.
