Year 5 SEND HLTA - Druids Heath, Birmingham

We are currently looking for an experienced and confident SEND HLTA to join a welcoming mainstream primary school in Druids Heath, Birmingham, supporting pupils within a Year 5 class.

The class has a high percentage of pupils with additional needs, and the school is looking for someone with strong experience in SEND support, learning interventions and behaviour management.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HLTA or Teaching Assistant who is confident working with pupils who require additional support and can build positive relationships while maintaining clear and consistent boundaries.

The Role
* Supporting pupils with a range of additional needs within a mainstream Year 5 classroom
* Delivering targeted learning and SEND interventions
* Taking individual pupils or small groups out of class for focused intervention sessions
* Supporting pupils with their academic development and confidence
* Delivering behavioural and emotional regulation interventions
* Helping pupils develop strategies to manage behaviour and engage positively with learning
* Working closely with the class teacher and SENDCo to identify and respond to individual needs
* Supporting pupils both inside and outside the classroom
* Helping to create a calm, structured and inclusive learning environment
* Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback to the teaching team

The Ideal Candidate
* Previous experience working as an HLTA, Senior Teaching Assistant or experienced SEND Teaching Assistant
* Strong experience supporting children with additional needs
* Confident delivering 1:1 and small-group interventions
* Experience supporting behaviour and emotional regulation
* Able to confidently take pupils out of class and deliver structured learning activities
* Calm, patient and consistent in their approach
* Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
* Able to work effectively alongside the class teacher, SENDCo and wider school team
* Experience within a mainstream primary school is highly desirable

The school is looking for someone who can make a real difference to pupils who need additional support to access learning and manage the demands of the school day.

This is an ASAP, ongoing position and would suit an experienced SEND practitioner looking for a long-term opportunity within a supportive mainstream primary school.
