Year 5 Teacher - Nottingham

A successful primary school in Nottingham is looking to appoint an enthusiastic Year 5 Teacher to join their KS2 phase from January 2026. The Year 5 Teacher will plan ambitious curriculum sequences that develop pupils’ independence, reasoning and exam technique where appropriate. The successful Year 5 Teacher will lead targeted intervention groups, support cross-curricular projects and take responsibility for assessment cycles. An induction programme will be provided in the lead-up to January 2026 to ensure the Year 5 Teacher is fully prepared for the spring term.

The Year 5 Teacher will collaborate with subject leads to design engaging learning experiences and will liaise with parents to report progress and next steps. Nottingham’s schools provide secure CPD pathways and collaborative moderation — the Year 5 Teacher will benefit from structured support and mentoring.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver ambitious Year 5 lessons with clear learning objectives and progression.


• Use assessment to set precise targets and to plan effective interventions.


• Lead small-group teaching and evaluate the impact on pupil progress.


• Contribute to curriculum development and enrichment activities across the school.


• Communicate effectively with parents and participate in reporting cycles.

Person specification

• Qualified teacher with substantial KS2 experience and a strong record in Year 5.


• Secure curriculum knowledge, excellent classroom management and strong organisational skills.


• Reflective practitioner committed to pupil progress and professional development.


• Available to start January 2026 and to be based in Nottingham.
