Year 5 Teacher | Slough

A popular primary school in Slough is seeking an enthusiastic Year 5 Teacher to join its Key Stage 2 team from January 2026. The successful Year 5 Teacher will plan and deliver knowledge-rich sequences that develop pupils’ writing, reading, maths and wider-curriculum understanding. This Year 5 Teacher role in Slough will include leading booster groups, delivering high-quality lessons and contributing to whole-school curriculum development. The position is due to start January 2026 and induction and planning sessions will be arranged before January 2026 so the Year 5 Teacher can begin the spring term fully prepared.

The Year 5 Teacher will use assessment to set precise next steps, design engaging lessons that deepen subject knowledge and run targeted small-group support. The Year 5 Teacher will work closely with subject leads and teaching assistants to secure strong outcomes for pupils across Slough. We welcome Year 5 Teacher candidates who are reflective, organised and committed to achieving excellent results.

Responsibilities

• Plan and teach sequenced Year 5 lessons that develop vocabulary, fluency and reasoning.


• Lead small-group tuition and intervention to accelerate progress where needed.


• Use assessment to set personalised learning targets and adapt lessons accordingly.


• Collaborate with colleagues on moderation, cross-curricular projects and enrichment.


• Maintain accurate records of attainment and communicate progress to families in Slough.

Person specification

• Qualified teacher with demonstrable Year 5 or KS2 experience and evidence of impact.


• Strong subject knowledge, excellent classroom routines and confident behaviour management.


• Data-aware, organised and able to work positively within the Slough school community.


• Ready to take up post in January 2026 and to attend induction activities before January 2026.
