TimePlan are recruiting for a welcoming and supportive primary school in New Malden is seeking an experienced and dedicated Year 6 Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled TA who is confident supporting pupils in Upper Key Stage 2 and helping children with additional learning needs achieve their full potential.
The Role
As a Year 6 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher to support pupils both in the classroom and through targeted intervention sessions. Your responsibilities will include:
Supporting Year 6 pupils with their learning across the curriculum. Planning and delivering targeted maths and reading interventions to raise attainment and close learning gaps. Providing tailored support for children with additional needs, including Dyslexia, ASD, and ADHD. Encouraging pupil engagement, confidence, and independence. Supporting the teacher with classroom preparation and learning activities. Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback to teaching staff. Building positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents. Assisting with lunchtime and playground supervision where required.
What We're Looking For
At least 5 years' experience working within a primary school setting. Proven experience supporting Upper Key Stage 2 pupils, particularly Year 5 and Year 6. Experience planning and leading intervention programmes for maths and reading. Strong understanding of supporting pupils with Dyslexia, ASD, and ADHD. Experience supporting children with English as an Additional Language (EAL) is desirable. Experience supervising breaktimes and lunchtime duties is desirable. A patient, proactive, and adaptable approach. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. A genuine passion for helping children succeed academically and personally.
