E-commerce Assistant Job Description

St Luke's Hospice are a local charity providing compassionate care to people whose illnesses are no longer curable. We promote dignity in dying and empower people to make the choices they want, from the moment they are diagnosed.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual with a passion for e-commerce, looking to make an impact in a charity with a meaningful cause. Based in the St Luke's Hospice e-commerce team.

About the role

The E-commerce Assistant will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of our online store, ensuring a smooth customer experience and enhancing our online presence. The successful candidate will work closely with the E-commerce Manager and other team members to achieve our sales and engagement goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in managing our online store by processing orders, managing inventory, and updating product listings.
• Respond to customer inquiries via email, live chat, and social media, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
• Support the implementation of digital marketing campaigns, including social media updates and email newsletters.
• Conduct regular website checks to ensure functionality, accuracy, and user-friendliness.
• Liaise with suppliers and partners to ensure timely product deliveries and updates.
• Analyse sales data and customer feedback to provide insights and recommendations for improvement.
• Assist in creating and maintaining product descriptions, images, and pricing.
• Contribute to the development and execution of promotional activities and sales events.
• Maintain high standards of accuracy and attention to detail in all tasks.

Salary and Contract

Salary : £22,369.35 per annum
Contract : Permanent
Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours per week)
Location : Basildon Business Centre, Bentalls, Pipps Hill, Basildon SS14 3FT (Free on-site parking)

About you

Requirements

Essential

• Previous experience in an e-commerce or digital marketing role.
• Strong organisational and multitasking skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and basic knowledge of e-commerce platforms.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Desirable

• Experience with content management systems and digital marketing tools.
• An understanding of charity retail
• Knowledge of antiques/ specialist / higher value goods/fashion brands
• Knowledge of SEO and web analytics.
