HR Business Partner - Retail, Family Leave Cover

Reporting to the Director of HR Business Partnering and Programmes you will be responsible for the HR service for your designated business areas. You’ll be responsible for translating business strategy into people plans in partnership with other HR teams to create a culture where talent thrives. You’ll be curious, credible, good at building trust and brave to challenge the norm.

With a strong commercial and people focus, including a broad understanding of key business levers. Working in partnership your fellow business partners, and the wider HR team you will focus on supporting and guiding your stakeholders to create and manage high performing and engaged teams that are focused on delivering the business goals efficiently and driving business profitability.

This role is offered as a full time, fixed term contract of up to 12 months to cover a period of family leave. Based remotely, ideally within the Midlands area, you will be covering stores in South East, Midlands and the North. You’ll need to live within regular commutable distance to stores within your patch and there will also be quarterly travel to Cornwall or other areas to attend meetings.

You'll help us by:

Driving a proactive approach to the people agenda, questioning and challenging others to get to the root cause of people and business issues and identify solutions. Developing and maintaining high functioning relationships with those you support, providing high support and high challenge. Facilitating regular listening sessions following engagement surveys to review results, create action plans to support initiatives to drive engagement.

Acting as the main point of contact between your stakeholders and the resourcing team, ensuring a timely and high level of service. Support departments to develop and maintain succession plans. Working with stakeholders to develop goal orientated and people centric development plans.

Delivering people management short courses to our leaders throughout the business. Partnering the Learning & Development team to contribute to the design of formal development programs.

Supporting project, change & consultation plans to secure critical business changes are implemented in a way that aligns with our values and being a strong and visible advocate for change, leading and supporting the business

Pro-actively supporting our culture and values and work with those you support to improve employee engagement levels within their teams. Ensuring an inclusive culture enabling everyone to be the best that they can be.

The skills you'll be sharing with the team:

  • CIPD qualification level 5 or above, or equivalent
  • A demonstratable understanding of the majority of HR disciplines and new emerging HR trends with Change Management & OD experience.
  • Experience of management recruitment – from attraction to selection & succession planning.
  • Good understanding & experience of standard HR KPIs, trending etc.
  • Strong coaching and influencing skills.
  • Understanding of how to drive Employee Engagement.
  • Curiosity to understand ‘why’ and develop best fit solutions.
  • Ability to analyse and diagnose business issues and translate these into people-based solutions.
  • Ability to quickly and effectively build senior-level relationships with great influencing and communication skills.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills with attention to detail.
  • A love of being part of a high performing team.
