OBS Retail & Leisure Manager

We are recruiting for an On-Board Services Retail & Leisure Manager to join our team at P&O Ferries.

Following the P&O Vision, to ensure that we meet the changing needs of todays and tomorrow's customer and give ourselves an edge over the competition, the P&O OBS (On-Board Services) Strategy is to ensure 3rd party relationships and activity is well thought out, regular communication resulting in full engagement and collaboration.

This role is responsible for managing and supporting the Director of OBS formulating the annual strategies, delivering the day-to-day events, operational requirements, and managing 3rd parties to their contracts. Leading and delivering projects alongside the OBS team. The role includes 3rd party and internal project management to support the over-arching OBS strategy.

This role sits within the Passenger department and reports into the Director of Onboard Services, Operations, and Partnerships. It has been created to ensure day to day management support is in place for the OBS team, to support them in the cultivation and maintenance of the 3rd parties and daily operations. Staying close to market trends and responding to customer and team feedback.

There is a reliance on the industry expert partners seamlessly delivering the P&O experience in line with their contractual obligations and P&O's focus on outstanding customer satisfaction and brand differentiation. Brand loyalty is critical to the success of our onboard strategy and onboard partnerships play an important and pivotal role in establishing and developing this brand loyalty.

This role will equally fulfil an important part in ensuring all internal P&O stakeholders, especially working alongside the P&O procurement team to achieve delivery so having the correct level of engagement and input into both the day-to-day and the long-term approach to the onboard partnerships.

The Role:

The key areas of responsibility are:

• The Retail shops.
  • World Duty Free partnership.
• The Leisure business .
  • Live band entertainment, children's entertainment & collateral, theme & mini cruises, events planning. All gaming, casino and cinema entertainment.
• Hospitality.
  • (Food & Beverage)
• General Operations.
  • PPL & PRS, point of sale, Marketing material, project coordination, team planner, launching of initiatives and onboard services.
• CAPEX .
  • Support with business plans for investment back into the business, new initiatives, from creation to execution alongside the team.
• Financial.
  • Contributing to beating the OBS budget by personally driving the Key matrixes: Revenue, Spend per head, Margins and Customer satisfaction (NPS). Manage budgets within the area.

As well as development; lead delivery of new products and partnerships.

The Person:

• Product Expert: Working knowledge and experience of the day-to-day operations of the different product industries, such as Leisure, Hospitality & Retail.
• Sector knowledge: Working knowledge and experience of the day-to-day operations of both retail and F&B industry from within the leisure and travel sector
• Proven commercial acumen : A proven track record of supporting the delivery of results using financial modelling, analysis and budget management.
• Process orientation: Working knowledge and experience of the processes and systems required to support the setting and monitoring of qualitative and quantitative measures to inform KPI achievements.
• Decision making: Able to gather all key information and quickly identify real root and cause of problems to support robust decision making.
• Organisation: Organised with effective time management skills and able to assess business needs and set priority plans accordingly.
• A collaborative open approach: Ability to work cross functionally without creating barriers. Ability to listen and communicate effectively. Approachable and personable.
• Team player: Genuine interest in OBS team functions with a willingness to learn. Works well within a team and is happy to support the wider team while learning about delivering through partnerships.
• Communication and Interpersonal skills: Articulate with good interpersonal skills. Shows drive and enthusiasm with willingness to learn. Good presentation skills.
• Attitude: To have a ‘can do' attitude, work with pace & urgency, challenge and add logical questioning, contribute to the team positively and have a winning mentality. Deliver to timelines.
