Sales Assistant

Job description

The Employer is: OXFAM IRELAND. Working under the direction of the Shop management team, the Jobstart Sales Assistant will have the opportunity to learn key skills within the retail environment. Over time, you will assist with the effective running of the store, by carrying out assigned daily tasks, including sales, merchandising, window displays and the daily maintenance of the store ensuring the highest standards of housekeeping and customer service. .

Responsibilities

• Work with the shop manager to maximise profitability by actively encouraging customers to visit the store and purchase merchandise.
• Work towards achieving targets and hitting monthly budgets.
• Provide excellent customer service.
• Ability to resolve customer service issues.
• Carry out visual merchandising.
• Maintain inventory control.
• Maintain a fun, professional and friendly environment with staff, customers and volunteers.
• Complete paperwork and banking procedures accurately.
• Work in a safe way, observing all health and safety guidelines.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• Previous experience in a customer facing environment.
• Previous experience in cash handling.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Experience in working as part of a diverse team and ability to work on own initiative.
• Excellent communication skills and a positive, can-do attitude.
• Excellent organisation skills.
• Ability to work well as part of a team and lead it on occasion.

Desirable Skills

• Visual merchandising.
• Fashion retail experience.

Further Information

The Employer is: OXFAM IRELAND. Although this is a part-time temporary opportunity, hours may be extended, and it could lead to a permanent position. The job advert may end before the closing date if requested by the employer.
