Job Description - Instrument and Control Team Lead

JOB TITLE: Instrumentation and Control Team Lead KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Live Petrofac core values and apply them in day-to-day work.
  • Ensure all work by team members complies with Petrofac and industry codes and standards.
  • Provide instrumentation and electrical technical support to, and implement instructions from, the technical delivery team manager.
  • Provide day-to-day supervision, guidance, and support to all instrumentation & control and small-bore tubing personnel within the team.
  • Contribute to the development of the plans, schedules, and estimates for the individual workscopes.
  • Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with asset priorities and schedules as set out in the integrated plans.
  • Ensure as far as possible all work is carried out in compliance with agreed budget and schedule.
  • Liaise with other disciplines in the execution of the work.
  • Give appropriate support to the team members and be a conduit for all HR-related issues.
  • Prepare estimates and assist in the review of proposed schedules.
  • Responsible for specific change and improvement initiatives.
  • Keep up to date with technical developments, national and international standards and legislative requirements related to the scope of the discipline, including assisting in the training and technical development of engineers.
  • Provide a conduit into the Technical Authority team for resolution of technical queries
  • Provide annual performance reviews and goal setting to team members
  • Chair team get-togethers and provide motivational support to team members
  • Responsible for Systems and instrument budget input to Operations manager during OPEX build.
  • Maintain and monitor LE and take accountability of own budget lines within client OPEX & CAPEX agreed budgets.
  • Raise additional CAPEX or OPEX spend requests as required throughout the budget year dependant on breakdowns and urgent implementation requirements.
  • Review budget lines as per cycle through to COP and decommissioning of facilities
  • Hold monthly meetings with Operations Managers , ISP contract managers , O&M contract managers and team leads to develop a manning profile for yearly activities.
  • Candidate should have strong interpersonal skills and problem-solving attributes.
  • Be able to work on own initiative with minimal OEM involvement.
  • Strong fault-finding methodology.
  • Be safety focused at all times ensuring this is at the forefront of any decision making.
  • Adherence to Petrofacs core values and procedures.
  • Be able to look at long term strategies and succession planning.
  • Develop a clear development plan for self-succession within the organisation.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Engineering Degree in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent.
  • Chartered Engineer preferred
  • Necessary certification for travel offshore
  • Formal qualification in Functional Safety is desired FSENG.
  • Must be conversant and knowledgeable with respect to current and new legislation and standards.
  • Must be willing to travel offshore/site
  • Capable of representing Petrofac OPO and Client to business associates in a professional manner
  • Team player
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office Applications and relevant discipline specific software
  • Proactive and motivated to deliver
  • Ability to investigate and interpret data
  • Thorough with good attention to detail
  • Ability to be responsive and open to changing circumstances
  • Ability to motivate and supervise other discipline personnel
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrates cross-cultural awareness and an ability to build effective working relationships across our global business
  • Good communication skills
  • Significant experience within the Oil & Gas or Petrochemical Industry is essential
  • A skilled engineer in offshore oil & gas operations
  • Experience of leading a team of professional engineers and technicians
