Job Description - Adult Learning Tutor

Job Title : Adult Learning Tutor

Location : Barrow in Furness

Salary : Up to 30,000 per year (dependent on experience)

Contract Type : Permanent

Role Overview :

As an adult learning tutor (Work Based Learning), you will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment, providing mentoring and support to learners in the workplace. You will work closely with learners to ensure the quality of their journey and successful completion of targets, focusing on areas such as Team Leading/Management, Customer Services, Business Administration, and Employability.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Promote our clients learning opportunities and recruit learners to suitable provision.
  • Identify learners' training and support needs, record these in their training plans, and adapt delivery accordingly.
  • Deliver instruction to learners in accordance with course syllabus and qualification standards.
  • Assess learners' proficiency through interviews, observations, and portfolio assessments.
  • Liaise with other Training staff to obtain suitable project work for learners.
  • Conduct regular reviews of learners' progress.
  • Maintain records of attendance, assessment, and learner progress.
  • Collaborate with training providers and FE colleges to identify progression pathways.
  • Ensure compliance with equal opportunities policies and safeguarding regulations.

Essential/Desirable Criteria :

  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to deliver results and meet targets.
  • Strong teamworking abilities.
  • Commitment to diversity and integrity.
  • Dedication to delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Building effective relationships.
  • Experience supporting the delivery and testing of vocational qualifications.
  • Assessor Qualification or willingness to work towards it.
  • Functional Skills Level 2 in Maths/English/ICT.
  • Recognized teaching qualification (e.g., PTLLS or equivalent).
  • GCSE English Language or equivalent (Grade A -C).
  • Competency in Health & Social Care, Team Leading & Management, Warehousing, or hospitality desirable.
  • IQA qualification desirable.

Additional Information :

  • This role may require working from other Training Centers across Cumbria.
  • Enhanced DBS clearance required.
  • Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for interview.
