Job Description - Development Engineering

Industrial Automation, Process Automation, Climate Control, Life Science and Fluid Control, and Transport. This role is for the Industrial Automation platform. We create solutions for our customers which enable smarter, safer, more productive and sustainable factories, production lines and warehouse operations. Our pneumatic and electric motion systems help machine builders and end users around the world automate and optimize manufacturing and warehousing processes. We have partnered with customers in industrial automation for over a century, applying our experience and innovation to create lasting value for their businesses. Our solutions support critical industries such as automotive, food and beverage, pharmaceuticals and even the space industry. We support the automation of precision manufacturing, product assembly, testing and packaging. The role is a Fixed Term Contract role, with a standard 37-hour working week and contract until the end of September. With the closure of the IMI Fradley manufacturing facility being imminent, the Supplier Development Engineer is the primary point of contact between IMI and its suppliers in matters relating to effective resolution of escalated supplier quality and delivery issues. The SDE also supports necessary supplier tooling improvement plans along with development and change activities in accordance with IMI requirements. Solve problems & risks that arise at suppliers that could impact the transfer of production to receiving sites.

  • Drive necessary improvements in supplier quality, delivery, cost and systems.
  • For escalated quality issues, the SDE drives supplier Corrective Actions to mitigate root cause issues.
  • Conducts supplier assessment surveys as required.
  • Responsible for maintaining supplier performance KPIs, utilizing monthly supplier scorecards and communicate both internally and externally the supplier’s performance.
Qualification in Quality or Supply Chain Management is preferable, or Five Years related experience. Familiarity with IAFT-16949, ISO-9001:2000, and ISO-14000 quality system standards or other globally recognized quality standards and systems applicable to business requirements. Experience managing projects and cross functional teams. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, pareto and statistics, good knowledge of Minitab / statistical analysis tools preferable. Travel, including air travel, is required (50% of the time within Europe). Must have a valid driver’s license. #
