Enterprise Data Architect

My client is one of the best performing Lloyd’s Market Underwriters their teams are empowered to find innovative solutions, fostering a culture of collaboration and mutual benefit. As a privately-owned entity, they prioritize long-term decisions that support steady growth but progressive revenue growth. They are currently seeking an experienced Enterprise Data Architect to strategically design and oversee our applications, systems infrastructure, and data architecture. Responsibilities include defining and maintaining roadmaps, creating and maintaining data-specific architecture, and guiding projects that involve new technologies. The Enterprise Data Architect will lead the Architecture team, collaborating across business functions and IT to drive and execute architectural solutions that support our business. A deep understanding of IT systems and insurance industry practices is essential. Define the target data architecture and overall enterprise architecture to ensure alignment with business goals and objectives. Implement the Data Transformation initiative in partnership with the appointed consultant, ensuring alignment with data requirements and fostering strong stakeholder relationships. Evaluate, standardize, and implement technologies and products for data architecture. Contribute to the definition and implementation of data and overall architecture governance practices, ensuring compliance, consistency, and best practices. Manage architecture projects, overseeing planning, execution, and delivery, including solution design, system integration, and technology upgrades, while adhering to timelines and budgets. Collaborate with the Head of Information Security to ensure architectural designs and solutions meet security and regulatory standards for data protection and privacy. Lead and mentor a small team of architects, engineers, and analysts within the wider IT team, providing guidance and fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment. A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Extensive experience in architecture roles, including data architecture, preferably within the insurance or financial services industry. Proven expertise in designing and implementing enterprise-level architectures, data warehousing solutions, database structures, and application development. Familiarity with current and emerging technologies such as APIs, artificial intelligence, and robotic process automation in an insurance context. Experience working with the Azure data technology stack, including Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL, Synapse Analytics, and PowerBI. Professional certifications/qualifications in Azure/Data Technologies, Business Analysis, Project Management, or Chartered Insurance Institute are desirable.
