Job Description - Asset Management Intern

Job Title: Asset Management Intern


Reports To: Senior Asset Manager



Contract Length: 12-month fixed term



Required qualifications, skills and experience:



  • Engineering, Science or math degree or equivalent


Desirable Qualifications, skills and experience:



  • Engineering  degree with focus on Renewables Energy/Electrical/Mechanical

  • Advanced Excel Skills (understanding of macros, visual basic, Python or SQL would be advantageous)


Purpose of the Asset Engineer Role



To provide supportive role to manage a number of solar assets/SPVs by ensuring best practice for safety, quality and environmental performance, whilst enhancing the overall returns and value of each project and complying with all of the applicable contractual agreements.



You will help to manage asset management activities carried out on the project; this will involve working with the different departments within Bluefield and other internal personnel to provide a solid asset management function across all of Bluefield’s assets.



Duties & Responsibilities



  1. Support Asset Managers in management of the contracts of the SPVs to ensure that all assets are in compliance with:

    1. Statutory requirements for Health, Safety and Environmental performance,

    2. Local planning authority requirements,

    3. Grid company connection conditions and power purchase agreements,

    4. Other agreements in place.



  2. Optimise project performance:

    1. Monitor contractor performance during scheduled and unscheduled maintenance with a view to ensuring all contracted SLA’s are met or bettered,

    2. Review and enhance maintenance strategies and activities with a view to reducing down-time,

    3. Review regular and other reporting provided by the contractors and ensure any issues are being suitably addressed,

    4. Build strong relationships with contractors,

    5. Identify and establish the necessary KPIs to monitor the performance of each asset.



  3. Identify equipment faults, carry out diagnoses and troubleshooting activities with support from the Monitoring Team.

  4. Prepare regular asset management reports on each asset.

  5. Provide support to the Asset Managers to diagnose and remedy operational problems.

  6. Facilitating site visits to company sites to assess status and conditions of the solar farm; maximum of 4 per year per project.

  7. Provide support to Asset Managers for:

    1. Spare parts management

    2.  Management of insurance claims

    3. Management of warranty claims

    4. Review of site performance calculations

    5. Recording and review of key deadlines under project contracts, together with contract tendering and renewal, including DC/DA/MOP contracts, Warranty extensions, O&M/OEM SLA’s.

    6. Scheduling and co-ordination of Planned preventative maintenance to optimise performance and minimise risk

    7. Site OPEX and Capex budgets and forecasting

    8. Site strategies

    9. Site specific projects and major works

    10. Maintenance of Operating Plans, Asset Registers and other management tools as necessary.

    11. Other ad-hod requests following adequate training.



  8. Maintain data security and confidentiality by using information within the parameters of the job role, any applicable SLAs, the company data policies and / or privacy notices and the statutory guidelines set out within the GDPR and any associated UK legislation. Pay particular regard to any data that is generated by CCTV or that may be classified as personal data.

  9. Comply with all required fire, health and safety requirements for the environment in which you are working, including making yourself aware of the current applicable policies and risk assessments and acting accordingly, and attending any required training.

  10. Any other reasonable task as requested by a Manager, Director or Partner of the business.


Interactions within the Bluefield Group



  1. Communicate information as required within the team.

  2. Collaborate with other teams within the Bluefield Group as necessary.

  3. Attend team meetings, company meetings, handover meetings, portfolio and investment meetings and appraisals as required.


Job Location
Bristol Central and frequent UK travel. Hybrid working available.



Hours of Work


37 ½ hours per week, Monday to Friday 9:00 am until 5:30 pm. 3 days in office (Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays)
