Our technical staff are essential to supporting teaching, research, and the smooth operation of our facilities. Whether you're maintaining cutting-edge lab equipment, facilitating ground-breaking research, developing new techniques, or enhancing student and staff experience with top-notch facilities, your work will have a lasting impact that stretches far beyond our academic community.

The Hudson Beare Engineering (HBE) Makerspace is a specialised facility providing a dedicated space for students from across the University to use a range of light manufacturing and workshop equipment for their project work. Working under the supervision of the dedicated Technician (makerspace supervisor) and the Makerspace Lab Manager (Chair of Student Innovation Advisory Group) the intern’s primary objective will be to contribute to the day-to-day operation of the Makerspace. This will be achieved through supervision and supporting students using the space, assisting with equipment set-up and testing, documentation of processes and procedures, and implementation of supporting systems.

This internship offers the chance for a student intern to support other students and acquire significant hands-on technical work experience as part of a team of highly skilled technical staff in support of this new and unique facility.  It is anticipated that while the intern will collaborate with colleagues on certain activities, they will be assigned specific work tasks that fit with their interests, knowledge and experience.
