Event Marketing and Sales Support Intern

Internship Program Mission:

To attract and engage undergraduate and graduate talent, including students pursuing advanced degrees for specialized roles, by providing meaningful internship opportunities at HAI Group that align with their fields of study and enable them to apply academic knowledge, theory, and skills in a practical workplace environment. 

Internship Overview

HAI Group is seeking a motivated and organized undergraduate or graduate student interested in marketing, events, sales support or a related field. As the Event Marketing and Sales Support Intern, you will work closely with HAI Group’s Marketing and Communications Services team, including our events staff, while also partnering with Business Development. 

You will gain hands-on experience supporting industry conferences, sponsorships, events, marketing campaigns and sales initiatives designed to build awareness and generate new business opportunities. The role will provide exposure to event planning and execution, content and campaign development, sales support, lead generation and follow-up activities. You will assist with day-to-day projects across these areas while also taking on special assignments that support HAI Group’s broader marketing and business development efforts. 

This is a full-time, paid internship that is required to be on-site in the HAI Group office, located in Cheshire, CT, Monday–Friday. The internship program will run from May 31st – Mid August.  

Essential Functions

• Assist with the planning, coordination and execution of conferences, trade shows, sponsorships and other industry events. 


• Support pre- and post-event marketing activities, including attendee communications, promotional materials, follow-up campaigns and lead management.  


• Collaborate with Marketing and Business Development staff on sales initiatives, outreach efforts and lead-generation campaigns.  


• Help develop and update sales and marketing materials, including presentations, event collateral, email content and other promotional resources.  


• Conduct research on prospective customers, agents, brokers, industry organizations, events and market opportunities.  


• Support digital and content marketing initiatives as needed, including email campaigns, social media, website content and other communications.  


• Help coordinate logistics with internal teams, vendors, event organizers and other external partners.  


• Maintain organized records, schedules, event materials and project documentation.  


• Participate in special projects and other Marketing and Communications Services initiatives as assigned. 

Job Requirements

Required:

• Currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, Sales, Public Relations, Event Management, Hospitality Management, or another related degree. 


• Work on-site in the HAI Group office, located in Cheshire, CT, Monday–Friday


• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

Preferred:

• Prior work/internship experience 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.


• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.


• Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.  


• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners.  


• Interest in marketing, event planning, sales support and business development.  


• Ability to conduct research, organize information and identify relevant insights or opportunities.  


• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook.  


• Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to take initiative.  


• Ability to learn new systems, tools and processes quickly.  


• Professional, dependable and comfortable representing HAI Group when interacting with vendors, event organizers and other external contacts.
