Job Description:
Upskill Peterborough is a four-week programme designed for young people aged 18 to 21 who are not currently in employment, education or training.
The course combines confidence-building activities, skills development workshops and industry visits, culminating in a week-long project in which participants use technology to develop solutions to challenges they have identified within their communities or everyday lives.
The Learner Engagement Officer responsibilities will include:
• Promote the programme by engaging prospective participants across the local community.
• Support the recruitment and outreach phase of the project
• Build and maintain relationships with Jobcentre Plus, youth organisations, community groups, and other relevant stakeholders
• Use local knowledge and established networks to identify young people who are not currently in education, work, or training
• Proactively engage and encourage eligible young people to participate in the programme
• Work collaboratively with partners and stakeholders to increase awareness and reach within the target community
• Work independently, using initiative and self-motivation to identify and pursue opportunities to recruit and engage young people, while contributing to the overall success of the project.
• Support industry visits during the delivery of Upskill Peterborough
Person Specification:
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate young people from diverse backgrounds.
• Strong networking and relationship-building skills, able to develop effective partnerships with community organisations, employers, and stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently, using initiative and self-motivation to identify and pursue engagement and recruitment opportunities.
• Strong organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple activities and maintain accurate records.
• Effective teamwork, problem-solving, and outreach skills, with a proactive approach to achieving project objectives and participation targets.
