About the role 

In Private Client, you’ll work closely with a variety of taxpayers, such as entrepreneurs, high-net-worth individuals, and family businesses to manage and plan their personal tax affairs. It’s about building relationships, understanding people’s goals, and helping them make smart decisions for their future; think real trust, strategy, and long-term impact.

As part of the team, you will study the ATT and CTA qualification, developing specialist tax knowledge while gaining hands-on experience from day one. 

You’ll apply what you learn to real client situations, helping our clients navigate complex tax rules and regulations, building trust-based relationships, and provide valuable advice that supports their personal and business goals. At the end of your 4 year training contract, you will have developed into a trusted tax advisor, making a difference to your clients. 

Main Duties and Responsibilities 

Responsibilities below are generalised and are no way exhaustive:

• Assisting with the calculation of tax liabilities, including income tax, capital gains tax and inheritance/estate tax
• Supporting the preparation of tax authority submissions (HMRC) and responding to routine queries
• Prepare basic tax returns – individuals, partnerships and trusts using our chosen AI solutions.
• Prepare financial accounts for sole traders, barristers and trusts.
• Proactively chase clients and third parties for information to complete returns/accounts Conduct research into technical tax issues and summarise findings clearly 
• Work with partners and managers supporting in client meetings and on the preparation and delivery of advisory reports and presentations.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues across the team (and other departments), learning from others and contributing to a supportive and inclusive team environment.

From the outset, you will focus on building trusted relationships with your clients, developing strong communication skills and a client-centric mindset. You will learn to understand each client’s individual circumstances, putting yourself in their position, and supporting them in navigating the complexities of personal tax.

• Study towards the ATT and CTA qualifications will full study support
• Receive structured technical and professional skills training

• Learn through hands on experience and on the job learning.

Work Based Competencies

• Attention to detail and have good numerical and grammar skills
• A strong academic background is essential including GCSE’s and A-Levels. 
• Competent using word, excel and Microsoft outlook
• A good technical base for their appropriate level of qualification.

• Team player 
• Ability to work to deadlines
• Ability to multitask
• Good communication skills essential, being able to communicate with all levels externally and internally and respond to client needs
• Show a willingness to learn 

Academic Requirements 

• 120 UCAS points predicted or obtained from your top 3 A-Levels or equivalent
• B at Maths GCSE
