At ToffeeX, we’re building a new generation of engineering design tools. Our cloud-based platform uses physics simulations, generative design, and optimization algorithms to reimagine the way components like heat exchangers, cold plates, and manifolds are created. R&D Internship

Are you an ambitious undergrad, postgrad, or PhD student looking for a unique opportunity to build something unique and impactful? At ToffeeX, you’ll join a small team of scientists, engineers, mathematicians, and software developers for a hands-on R&D internship.

For our internship programme we are not offering pre-defined projects. Instead, we're giving you the tools, resources, and the freedom to explore a free topic that aligns with our work in engineering, mathematics, physics, and computer science.

You will choose a topic (with our guidance), get access to our tools, data, engineering infrastructure, and know-how, and then spend your time building something new.

We believe failure and iteration is a feature of good R&D; we’d enjoy spectacular failure just as much as a safe win. This programme will give you the space and mentorship to explore your most ambitious research ideas with serious technical depth and creativity.

We're looking for:

• Builders – whether it’s on competition teams, personal projects, open source, hardware builds, or exploratory research, you’ve got a track record of making things and putting them in the hands of other people.


• Self-starters – with initiative and imagination. You enjoy figuring stuff out on your own, but know when to ask for help and are receptive to mentorship


• A background in engineering, physics, maths, computer science, comfortable working in our complex problem domain
  

• Freedom to define and pursue your own R&D direction


• Access to our advanced software and computational resources.

Important Note: We are not hiring research projects. We are hiring people with a strong aptitude for innovation, rather than selecting specific research projects. Please do not send us a research proposal at this stage — your project will evolve from your unique interests and our collaborative discussions.
