We are currently recruiting for a Trainee Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join a growing manufacturing facility.

The Role
As a Trainee Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you will assist the engineering team with planned and reactive maintenance activities across a range of industrial production equipment and site services.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Assisting with planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance activities.
* Supporting experienced engineers with mechanical fault finding and repairs.
* Learning to maintain and repair pumps, gearboxes, motors, agitators, valves and associated equipment.
* Assisting with work on mechanical drives, bearings, seals and rotating equipment.
* Supporting the maintenance and installation of industrial pipework and associated fittings.
* Assisting with welding, fabrication and general mechanical fitting tasks.
* Gaining experience working on industrial utilities, including steam boilers and compressed-air systems.
* Supporting equipment installations, modifications and improvement projects.
* Learning how to identify recurring equipment issues and contribute to continuous improvement activities.
* Working closely with production teams to help minimise equipment downtime.
* Ensuring all maintenance activities are carried out in line with site health, safety, quality and hygiene procedures.
About You
* Recently completed a mechanical engineering apprenticeship, NVQ, BTEC, HNC/HND, City & Guilds qualification, or similar engineering course.
* A keen interest in mechanical engineering and industrial maintenance.
* Basic understanding of mechanical equipment such as pumps, motors, bearings and gearboxes would be advantageous.
* Any experience of welding, fabrication or mechanical fitting would be beneficial but is not essential.
* Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop new skills.
* Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a wider engineering team.
* Strong commitment to health and safety.
